Intex Pool Filter and Pump

Just like its larger cousin, the Intex pool needs a filter and pump to circulation and clean the water. Unfortunalty you can just buy any old pool filter and pump to use on your intex above ground pool. You need to buy one specifically made for your swimming Pool.

Intex pools offers a pool filter and pool pump combination called the Intex 4000 GPH Kyrstal Clear Swimming Pool Filter and Pump.  This particular filter is built for pools that are 7000 gallons or larger. However, if you use something this big on a smaller intex pool you will cut your filter time in half which can save you money.

The great thing about this filter is that it’s easy to install. It’s all one unit so you only have to attach to hoses to it and you are on your way to filtering your swimming pool. This filter also uses a cartridge to filter the water. Unlike a sand filter this filter can be easily cleaned by removing the cartrigdge and rising it down with a hose, it’s that easy.

You can also buy yourself a sand filter for an Intex pool. Intex makes thier own sand filter. What I always tell people is that sand filters are the lazy man filters. Reason being is the fact that they are so easy to clean. Unlike a cartridge filter you need to remove to clean, a sand filter allows you to just use a method called backwashing. What backwashing does is run water up through the sand in the filter removing all the dirt and debris it has trapped and moving it out of the filter through the backwash port and out into a backwash hose. That’s all it takes to clean a sand filter. There is no need to take the entire cartridge out and hose it down.

Don’t get me wrong both of these methods are easy and simple to clean, now it’s time to choose which filter is the right filter for you. If you buy an Intex pool at a store you may not have  a choice in what kind of filter will come with the pool. The good part is that after you buy your pool it’s easy to replace your filter with the filter of your choice whether it be a sand or a cartridge filter. Try the one you get and if you don’t like it you can always switch.

Intex Pool Salt Water Pool System

You don’t need to have a large, in-ground pool to enjoy a fresh, clean saltwater pool. Intex has developed a system for their entire Intex pool line. For years, the only available pool cleaning method for most families was using chlorine–storing chemicals, mixing chemicals, and looking at a green pool filled with algae. Intex has changed all that with their Saltwater Pool System. The Intex Pool Saltwater System is a safe alternative for your family’s Intex pool

Instead of using harmful chlorine, which can sting the eyes, the saltwater filtering system efficiently cleans your pool water, using pure, safe, natural enironmentally friendly salt. No more storing dangerous chemicals, which can harm children and pets. No more remembering to add chemicals to your pool water. No more red eyes or faded swimwear. You’ll spend less time and less money maintaining your Intex pool. This translates into savings for you and free you to enjoy your pool all season long.

How does it work? When you first install the Intex Saltwater Pool System for your Intex pool, you’ll dissolve regular table salt in your pool water. You can purchase this salt at your local pool store or warehouse store. The pool water passes through the saltwater cleaning system where bacteria and algae are eliminated. When you operate the Saltwater System daily, the water always has a supply of salt to use in the cleaning process. Salt doesn’t evaporate. Even better, the salt content in the water isn’t strong like ocean water. In fact, it’s only one-tenth the amount of salt of ocean water.

The Intex Saltwater Pool System is available in a combo unit, which includes a filter pump. If you already have a filter pump, you can obtain the standalone Saltwater Pool System. This works with any filter pump of 700 gallon per hour or higher. Plus, its energy saving feature timer turns the unit off after the cycle is finished.

Say goodbye to algae and bacteria, repeated trips to the pool supply store for chemicals and say hello to fresh, clean pool water for your Intex pool.

You can learn more about the Intex Saltwater Pool System and watch an information video at the Intex web site, www.intexcorp.com. Intex Pool Chemcials

Congratulations on the purchase of your Intex pool! The proper care and maintenance of your new Intex pool ensures that you and your family can enjoy the pool safely. Your new pool will require chemicle treatment routinely to keep the water in the best condition for family enjoyment. A few basic chemicles purchased from your pool store can keep your pool in tip top shape.

It is vital that you store all pool chemicals stored properly and out of reach of children and pets. Consumption of these chemicles can be toxic. For your own safety, wear protective clothing, such as gloves and/or goggles while handling pool chemicals. If chemicals come into contact with your skin, flush immediatly with water. Always discard empty chemical containers, never keep them for reuse.

Always add your chemicals directly to your pool, never mix water with the chemicals outside the pool. It is perfectly safe to add your chemicals directly to your Intex pool. Chlorine powder or granules that become damp or moist should be discarded immediately. Take care to keep this type of chemical dry.

Each chemical you purchase will have specific instructions for the amount of the product to use for the volume of water to be treated. The packaging that came with your Intex pool will have the information regarding the size and capacity of your pool Always follow manufacturers instructions regarding the proper amount to chemicle to add to your pool. Measure pool chemicals with a plastic measuring cup. Metal can sometimes have an adverse reaction with the chemicals.

When testing the ph of your pool, it is a good idea to take a water sample from approximately 12 to 18 inches below the surface. Always follow the manufacturers instructions regarding the amount of time to leave your filter running after treating your intex pool with chemicals. This is to allow sufficient time for the chemicals to dissolve and the ph of the water to stabilize.

Your Intex pool can be the source of hours and hours of family fun when maintained properly. Be certain to follow all safety precautions when handling pool chemicals and always follow manufacturers directions when treating your pool. A routine should be established to maintain your pool weekly. This ensures that your pool remains in top operating condition and can prevent other maintenance problems. Always check with your pool chemcial supplier if you have any questions.
